Marcel van Poecke
Co-founder and co-chair
Marcel van Poecke is an entrepreneur, investor and executive manager in energy sector with over 30 years of experience. He is the Founder and Chairman of AtlasInvest, which engaged in investments across the broad energy spectrum. Marcel is Vice Chair at Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP). Mr. van Poecke is also the Chairman of ONE-Dyas, Vice Chairman of the Energy Intelligence Board; Chairman of VARO, Vice Chairman of CEPSA and non-executive Director of Discover Exploration, Assala, Neptune and SierraCol. Mr. van Poecke also serves on the board of Trustees of WCS in New-York, The Wildlife Conservation Society.
Paul van Poecke
Co-founder and co-chair
Paul van Poecke has over 30 years experience in the energy-sector and has been active across storage, LNG, refining and power-plants. Prior to co-founding Tree Energy Solutions , Paul held several CEO, COO and board-positions at Petroplus Logistics, Petroplus , 4 Gas and HES International. He started his energy career at Van der Sluijs Group in the Netherlands now part of VARO. One of his landmark projects has been the initiation, development and startup of Dragon LNG in Milford Haven.
Marco Alverà
CEO
Marco Alverà has more than 20 years of experience in energy companies. He is the author of The Hydrogen Revolution. He began his career at Goldman Sachs before starting and selling a telecom company, and then joining Enel, one of the world’s largest green electricity companies. He subsequently worked for Eni, the oil and gas major, for over 10 years in senior positions, and from 2016 to 2022 he was CEO of Snam, which Marco positioned as an international leader in green gas and green gas infrastructure. Since 2017 he has been non-executive director of S&P Global, where he is also chair of the Finance Committee.
Cynthia Walker
CEO of TES of Americas
Cynthia comes with twenty-four years of extensive leadership experience across multiple functional and operational areas within the energy industry, including P&L responsibility, operations, corporate and business development, commercial marketing, strategic planning and financial functions. Before joining TES, Cynthia was most recently Senior Vice President, Midstream & Marketing for Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY) and previously Senior Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Occidental in 2012, she was a Managing Director within the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs & Co. She is an independent director of Sempra (NYSE: SRE) and Chord Energy (NASDAQ: CHRD).
Yves Vercammen
Chief Corporate Officer
Yves is an energy commodity markets expert with over 25 years’ of experience in the sector. Since October 2018 he has joined Fluxys as Transformation Projects Director focusing on the challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition. He has extensive experience in operations and portfolio management as well as covering the front-office activities for leading energy firms. Previously he was General Manager for Eni Trading and Shipping, where he was responsible for the global commodity trading activity of the Italian energy major, and was Head of Portfolio Management and Trading as well as Chief Financial Officer at Distrigas. He holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from the University of Antwerp and an MBA from the London Business School.
Jens Schmidt
Chief Technology Officer
For the past 20 years, Jens has worked with Fortune 500 companies as Corporate Technology Consultant/Fellow and Global Technology/Production Director to develop, start up, run, and improve world-scale production assets via technical innovation and Operational Excellence across multiple businesses and geographies. He advised on decarbonization strategies for multiple locations and businesses, an expert on the decarbonization of energy and chemical production assets through green hydrogen and CCU, as well as other sustainable production routes for key raw materials.
Alexandra Pieton
Chief Projects Officer
Alexandra is an experienced leader with over 20 years in the energy industry. She has held senior positions in engineering, project execution, operations and business management in the UK, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia and France. Before joining TES, Alexandra spent more than 15 years at Technip and TechnipFMC where she most recently served as Vice President Hydrogen Product Line and Vice President Energy Transition Strategy. Prior to that she was involved in several large multi-billion Onshore and Offshore Projects where she served as Project Director. She holds a master’s degree in engineering from EPF Ecole d’Ingenieurs and is an European and International Welding Engineer holding a master’s degree from ESSA.Our senior advisors

Christophe de Mahieu
Senior Advisor
Christophe de Mahieu is a Senior Advisor to AtlasInvest and the Carlyle Group. Previously, Christophe was Managing Director & Partner at Bain & Co., leading the Middle East Energy Practice and senior partner of the global Private Equity Practice. Prior to Bain, Christophe served as Co-Head of Investcorp’s $1 Billion MENA Private Equity fund and former senior Director & Partner with McKinsey & Co., where he founded the Middle East Practice in 2002. Christophe started his career working at Exxon Corporation in various management positions.
Julian Metherell
Senior Advisor
Julian Metherell is a founding partner of MW&L Capital. He is also vice chairman of GasLog, a NYSE listed LNG shipping business. He has also served on the Board of Euronav, the NYSE and Belgium listed tanker company. From 2011 to 2015, he was the CFO and a director of Genel Energy plc, the successor to Vallares Plc, a US$2bn publicly listed acquisition company which he co-founded in April 2011. From 1999 to 2011, Mr. Metherell was a partner at Goldman Sachs., where he served as chief executive officer of the UK investment banking division. He is a Trustee of the Royal Opera House, and the Chairman of the Judge Business School Advisory Board at Cambridge University.

Dr. Günther Bräunig has over 30 years of experience as a senior financial executive and served as CEO of KfW until October 2021. Dr. Bräunig is a member of the supervisory boards of Deutsche Telekom and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank. He served as Group Head in the Investment Banking Division of Commerzbank AG in Germany, as Sales Finance Manager of Airbus in France, and as Sales Finance Director of Airbus in North AmericaOur team
